Avoid polluting the waterways

How to Pollute the Waterways

There are two ways you can pollute the streams and rivers, and eventually the sea, from your own home.

  1. Put lots of FOG down your drain (with a nice helping of Sewer Litter), which will then go into the sewer.  This then blocks up and causes a "sewage fountain".  That spreads raw sewage onto the street or over someone's garden.  It could even come out of someone's toilet.

If it comes out onto the road then they will hose some of it away into the stormwater drain.  If it goes onto a garden then they will hose some of it away and it will end up in a stormwater drain or in a stream.  If it comes out of someone's toilet then the house needs major cleaning (including new carpets and maybe new interior walls), and part of that cleaning will involve hosing things down outside, and that mess may go into their stormwater drain.
  2. Put stuff directly into the stormwater drains.  You can wash your car on the street or your driveway and the cleaning suds will go into the nearest stream.  You can pour chemicals such as engine oil into the stormwater drain.  Think hard, and you'll remember lots of other things that you've seen go down that hole.
